Symbols & Powers

The materials below should be prefaced with some discussion on the power of Symbols and Magik. What is Magik? Simply put Magik is consciousness affecting reality, there is something about consciousness that interacts with the universe and this is a natural phenomenon. Symbols aid us in the creation of the patterns of consciousness as the relate to an idea or desired outcome or change. The Symbol alone is powerless, the power comes from what that symbol represents to the individual. This also means that shared symbolism can unify the consciousness of many individuals, group prayer is a good example. I believe that prayer works the same way Magik does, aligning your consciousness to a deity that represents something to the individual or group of individuals... their consciousness impacting reality... not winning the favor of a judging god. This sort of Magik is not to be confused with fictional magic like Harry Potter or Gandalf. It actually makes more sense the more one learns about particle physics and astrophysics.

1. Celestial Power (cosmic, creation) Violet/Purple Pentacle or Circle
2. Ethereal Power (Opposite Celestial, change, transformative) Aqua, slate blue, or Olive Green Pentacle or Circle
3. Astral Power (space, time) Orange, orange-red, or Centerline Pentacle or Circle
4. Telluric Currents (Electric and magnetic energy path from within the earth, core and crustal, pulling this fortifying properties through the healing Earth) 
5. Solar currents (Electric and magnetic energy path from the sky, atmosphere, and cosmos. Can be heightened during solar weather events)
6. Lunar currents (Reflection of Solar Current, pulled through the transformative body of the moon having aspects of both Solar and Telluric as well as adding it's own properties. Good to use at night under prominent presence of the moon above when the Earth beneath us shields the available Solar Current)
7. Elemental Air, rules thought, insight, reason, and logic. Air is the element of the mind. Spring, Yellow, Dawn, East -Circle with line(up)
8. Elemental Fire, rules passions such as vocational skills and romance. Summer, Red, Noon, South -Triangle(up).
9. Elemental Water, rules relationships and emotions as fluids as they are. Autumn, Blue, Evening, West -Triangle(down)
10. Elemental  Earth, rules physical health and financial stability (fortitude). Winter, Green, Midnight, North.  -Circle with line(down)
11. Elemental Spirit Above ()
12. Elemental Spirit Below ()

Powers are sources for energy working, currents are the pathways of power & energy transmission. Elements rule aspects of our reality and humanity.... i.e. consciousness  

Use

It will be handy to have a small set of Colored pens available as well as medium such as small notepad or a bare patch of skin to ink this upon your person. Permanent markers may be a poor choice unless you are okay with it being on your skin for a longer time.

Before beginning, it is best to ground and cleanse your personal energies and release any residual chaos.

Identify the Power Source for your rune-working and the current you want that provide as the conduit for that power. This selection is important as each favors different aspects and depending on time of day and cosmic cycles certain currents and Powers may be amplified or attenuated. For example, if you want Celestial power at night, but under a new Moon (moon is on the day side between Earth and Sun) you might choose the Telluric current and use the available Solar currents flowing into the Earth at the poles (especially during moderate geomagnetic storms) as the Lunar and direct Solar currents are being physically shielded by the body of the Earth. However, if you want to use the Lunar current during the Daytime under a New Moon that might work well as both the moon and the Sun will be present in the daytime sky. As long as your feet are on the ground the Telluric Current is available as a conduit for power, however, geomagnetic storm activity can have an impact on it. If you consider a moderate Storm (G2) the energy may be amplified and helpful. Under strong G3 or G4 storms it may be amplified too much introducing a lot of energetic noise and Solar Currents overriding Telluric Currents (which could be bad unless that's what you're looking for... Solar).

Next Identify the Elemental Symbols you wish to invoke. What aspect(s) of your Self are you addressing with this Rune? Mind and Body, Air and Earth.. .and so on. Lastly identify any secondary symbols that represent desired outcome. A symbol set such as Norse Runes or Celtic Fews are great, or create your own.

The Norse/Viking Rune Elhaz (Algiz) can represent Protection (Symbol below). So if you were hoping to create a rune design that invoked bodily and financial protection during a time of company transition, you may include this symbol along with Elemental Earth in a Rune that pulls from the Ethereal Power through the Telluric Current (as long as you weren't flying or driving the whole time)

Currents are the conduits, thus the encapsuling symbol of your Rune (contains all the other symbols) thus a circle is used. Next symbol drawn is the Power you desire to connect to thru the current. You can use a Circle or Pentacle. Next Place the Elemental symbol(s) within the Power Symbol, and lastly add any other symbols desired. Keep it simple, while it is not unusual to invoke many Elements, cluttering your rune with too many additional symbols can confuse and diffuse the effects of all.

If you wanted additional elements or Symbols those could be added into other portions of the Rune withing the Circle of the Current.

Once the Rune is planned out, clear your mind of other things, distractions, intentions, and feelings as to not inject those into the working. Ground/cleanse and set your intentions, then begin sketching on a piece of paper to keep on your person, or sketch it on yourself. Have a timeframe in mind, this might be something you want working all week, or just for a day, or just for a date ;) This will help you decide placement as well (if on body)
