Earth Day
Earth Day Pagan Reflection
Don't pray to or invoke characters of divinity such as Thor or Loki, they are not real. We do make them real. Just ask them, they will tell you. Someone recently asked me if I wanted to make an offering to Thor that night, while I understand the importance of symbolism in helping shape our intentions and align multiple individual consciousnesses to a desired outcome, I do not subscribe to the notion that there are gods that desire a sacrifice in order to gain favor. It's too quid pro quo. I understand that there is a balance in giving up something in order to gain something, but the offering to divine powers I feel is too cartoonish for my liking, some god looking over my shoulder pedantically ensuring I do all the steps proper . That being said, if it works for others, then I am for it... for them. And by sacrifice I meant to say burn some object of value or something of that nature, not slitting the throat of a goat or worse. Nothing has to die in order for me to gain the outcome I desire. I want to talk about intention, consciousness, symbols, and physics.
Why then does invoking Loki result in mischievous goings? Basically, the answer is because we manifest it. To answer how that is we first must discuss Magik.
Magik (or Magic for non-pagan readers) is effectively the influencing or altering of our reality in accordance with conscious will. We're not talking here about shooting balls of fire at our adversaries or turning them into animals. Rather the echoes of consciousness that we all emit that are received by both living organisms and inanimate materials all around us. Living creatures, especially conscious ones, are directly affectable.
Why does prayer seem to work? I have heard from many doctors (read, etc.) that they encourage prayer when outlook or prognosis is bad to those around a patient that genuinely believe in something. I once spoke with a nurse who eventually turned to the Christian faith because she had witnessed on too many occasions the impact a group of prayerful people had on the outcome of an ill patient. She thought that there just may in fact be a god after all. Maybe there is. Maybe instead there is a tool available to us that may or may not have been afforded by a creator? Regardless of the source, I believe that tool exists and that Prayer is the same as Magik. We individuals impact the fabric of our reality, and change outcomes via the echoes of our consciousness and when more and more of us align to the same thoughts the impact becomes more powerful.
The science of this is debatable, but the reality is evident. Cosmic electricity influenced through electro-magnetism as well as the possibility of gravitational pull. We are electric beings. The Earth has a Global Electric Circuit that physics is still working to understand. The Telluric Current. This is coupled with the electric circuit of our Sun, (the Solar Current) and the Sun to the Galactic Current Sheet. Funny that us Pagans have always talked about these things existing with perhaps differences in terminology but the models are effectively the same. Like the Earth, other celestial bodies that orbit our star are geomagnetically and electrically connected to it and to each other. Think of the Zodiac and how there are 12 signs that cusp into one another. These signs correspond with cosmic positioning, they also vary within each sign in accordance with the positioning of the celestial bodies within our solar system and the alignment of such bodies with the galaxy beyond (Constellations). Coupling currents combine, and negate, generating different patterns within an electrical being the moment it exits the shielding and protective womb of the mother's electric body. Viola! The Zodiac.
Celestial bodies having this electrical impact on us must have certain physical characteristics that manifest corresponding behaviors. So, size, distance, composition, mass, and speed could all be factors.
Like antennas that are a specific length or size in order to tune to a specific radio frequency, objects too may need to possess a specific ratio in order to "tune" to a celestial body's current when present. Older more ancient cultures incorporated proportion into their architecture and art. While this often served a structural advantage or need many still speak of the shapes and proportions as promoting certain energies. This is under-studied IMO. What I'm thinking of are objects of art that promote calm contemplation and peace placed in areas of commerce or any high-densely occupied area. We don't requires these while in nature because we are surrounded by them. Golden ratio might come into play here.
I have talked about two things here, consciousness and gods, and the interconnectedness of all things electrical in our cosmos. Goes to reason that consciousness is electric. Our nervous system is definitely electric, some recent studies have indicated that the entirety of our individual computational abilities include the use of the whole system, not just the brain attached to it. Our bodies are a vessel for our individual piece of the cosmic collective consciousness. I'm suggesting that some component of that is electric in nature as it is within each of us. As it is with all life.
One Druid tradition I have studied suggests that our individual Spirit or Eternal Self begins in this reality as the smallest of living organisms and then through each death and rebirth incarnating as something a bit more complex each time. Taking this a bit further, perhaps our biology is the nursery for such an Eternal Self and at some point ascension into the higher realm(s) is accomplished when that Self has no further need of a biological existence, literally growing out of it. In the druidic model I mentioned ascension occurs when our Self reaches the highest form of life in this realm, supposedly human, and learns all it can in that form and then starting in the next realm as the simplest of beings there but still a thing much higher than human life. Sure. That could be it. It could also be that humans are not the highest for of life in this realm... or what we know of it. Regardless :) if consciousness freed of biology exists in an electric state, that has interesting implications. So imagine for a minute that Magik is all about focused intention and emanating those ripples of our individual consciousness on the great pond of collective consciousness, consider how much more effective the Self would be at it without the troublesome distractions and discomfort associated with our biological selves.
No need to ask Thor for help? Who is Thor? Human-like god? Ascended consciousness? Maybe. And maybe the only way to get through to us simps is to speak to us in our terms. Maybe.
